David M. Armstrong
Chief Executive Officer and President
Armstrong Global Holdings
Everyone loves a story and David Armstrong told them like no other CEO. So it's no wonder he was known as "the storytelling CEO." David used stories to inspire others and to help them discover something about themselves that they would have otherwise missed through a boring flow chart or company memo. He believed that storytelling created an environment in which people were more receptive to change and new ways of thinking. David made complex ideas seem simple, and the moral of his story was never lost on deaf ears.
Not only did David Armstrong lead his company through some of its most turbulent and prosperous times, he also helped other companies succeed by imparting his wisdom on following the Golden Rule—or doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. In his book, Hanging by a Thread, David wrote about how you can be successful at business, or even running a country, without losing your soul in the process.
"From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more." —Luke 12:48
