What are you made up of? How deep does your faith go? Is your faith solid or is your faith fragile?
The psalmist says, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, and whatever he does shall prosper."
Faithful, faith-filled men or women, do not break when the winds of adversity blow their hardest. They are like a strong tree that is planted by the river where there is an ample supply of water. The roots of this tree are strong and they grow deep. They grab onto the earth, grip it hard, and are ready for the storms of life to hit. Battered by life, they remain standing. They may lose a few leaves and have some busted branches, but they survive to fight another day.
The dew is not so strong. The dew gently falls on rocks and trees alike. But, when the sun comes up and the warm rays begin to heat things up, the dew evaporates quickly. There is no substance to it. It is gone quickly, turning into a vapor that is no longer seen.
Faith must grow. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Faith in anything other than the absolute truth of God's Word is a shallow faith. It is a faith made of dew. Faith must be planted deeply and have deep root. Otherwise, when the winds blow against you, you will topple due to shallow roots or dry up like the dew.
If you place your faith in material things, relationships, or your finances, they can all fail you. If you trust in your health and place your faith in total exercise, running here and there, and bouncing on an exercise ball all the way to your work, these too can all change with one doctors report.
Faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things not seen. The substance is what it takes to have faith. The Word of God is this substance. If you fill yourself with the substance of God's Word, you will experience the evidence of the things you previously had not seen, but now come into fruition.
Lack of faith equals a misty live. Filled with faith equals a tree with strong deep roots.
