Armstrong International was called in to address a need in T & C’s cooking process. They wanted to see if they could increase throughput without increasing costs. Armstrong recommended that they could localize their hot water heating source close to the process by installing a direct fired gas water heater. This would take the current process cooking system off the steam loop which pleased T & C greatly because of their capacity problems.
The project value was $160,000.
The project was completed in May, 2004.
Torbitt & Castleman has seen their boiler load drop from 95% to 50% while their process received a steady flow of 200˚F water. Most importantly, their cook cycle time has been reduced by 4 minutes!
