Federal Prison

Southern U.S.

Background:

A large federal prison in the southern half of the United States needed to increase its hot water output to meet increasing domestic water demand, including hot water for showers. In addition to the needed increased output, the facility’s existing hot water sources (standard commercial storage heaters) were reaching the end of their expected life cycle.

This federal facility preferred to purchase products and services listed on a GSA contract.

Scope of Work:

Armstrong and local representative personnel met with the facility’s maintenance team to determine volume and temperature requirements needed for the increased demand. The equipment recommended included Twin 3 million BTU Flo-Direct® Direct Contact Gas Fired Water Heaters generating 65 gpm at 120°F.

In addition to the water heaters Armstrong provided installation technical assistance.

Both the equipment and the assistance were listed under Armstrong Service’s GSA contract.

Benefits:

The federal facility will be able to meet its increased hot water demand with state-of-the-art, Direct Contact Gas Fired Water Heaters with greater life cycle expectations than standard commercial storage water heaters. Because Armstrong Service has a GSA contract, the facility was assured of a tailored solution for both equipment and installation service at government negotiated pricing.
