Corem Deo ... living before the face of God. 

God is not sleeping.  God knows today you are troubled.  Troubled with life.  Troubled with bills.  Troubled with the kids.  Troubled with your job.  Troubled with yourself.  Troubled with your past.  Troubled about the future. 

Are you troubled about your relationship to God?  I hope you are.  Let me explain.

It is a good thing to look at the condition of our souls and see if we are actively seeking to obey God and follow His commandments.  It is a good thing to remember that we in fact do live, corem deo, before the face of God, and that means God is observing our lives to see if we are doing what He created us to do.  We were created to make His name glorious and worship our Creator.

Our flesh is constantly demanding to rule.  It seeks always to do the opposite of what God has commanded.  The flesh is an enemy of God and our flesh must be crucified daily.  This is what the apostle Paul was talking about in Galatians 5.  The flesh wars against the Spirit and the Spirit wars against the flesh.  In fact, there is nothing good in the flesh.  It has nothing but trouble to offer God.

What are the works of the flesh?  Well, let's see what the Word of God has to say in Galatians 5. 

"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissentions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."  Galatians 5:19-21

To live corem deo, before the face of God, should always remind us that God is all powerful, all seeing, and always present. 

Kind of makes you want to look around to see if we can actually see God there looking over our shoulder, doesn't it?  Kind of makes us want to live a little better, doesn't it?
