Hanging Out With The Kids

There is something a father and a mother loves to hear.  It is the sounds of their child's voice.  It doesn't matter how old these children may be, a parent loves to hear from them and see how they are doing.

I love walking into my home each night and having my nearly 3-year old son, Aidan, run into my arms as he yells "Daddy!"  Top this off with a hug from my wife and a kiss on my cheek and I am good to go for the night.

I love having my phone ring and hear the voice of my sons, Scott or Brian, who are now grown men.  We laugh.  We joke.  Sometimes we talk politics.  Religion.  And sometimes, we cry.  But, it is always good to hear from my kids.  I still cherish their hugs.

When is the last time you talked with your Heavenly Father?  Spent time with Him?

"What's that sound, Daddy?" Aidan asks as we sit in his newly built sandbox together.

"Oh buddy, that is the sound of the birds singing praises to God for providing for them this day."

"Where's the moon, Dad?"

"It is still there, you just can't see it right now.  It will be back, I promise."

When is the last time you asked God to sit in your sand box with you and just talk?  God loves hanging out with the kids.  Have you grown up so much and become so independent you no longer have time to talk with your Heavenly Father?  He loves hearing your voice.

Come on ... stop tooting your own horn at your accomplishments and acknowledge that none of it truly matters without the involvement and leading of God, your Father.

Building a castle without God is like building a castle made of sand.  When the next rain comes, the castle disappears.
