Armstrong Introduces New Steam Traps Series for “Clean Steam” Applications
Three Rivers, MI: A new series of stainless steel thermostatic steam traps for clean systems has been introduced by Armstrong International, Inc. The new TC Series includes three models, all constructed of 316L stainless steel (specified for clean steam application). For required cleanability, the Model TC-C is a repairable trap and uses a sanitary body clamp, while the TC-R is a bolted repairable trap. The Model TC-S is sealed and non-repairable.
All three models are balanced pressure thermostatic steam traps and are capable of operating close to saturated steam temperature at any given pressure. In addition, they are all self draining when piped in the vertical position. These compact steam traps are designed specifically for systems that use “clean steam” in such applications as fermentors, sterilizers/autoclaves, bioreactors, equipment sterilization, and for sterile barriers, block and bleed and process piping, plus in CIP/SIP systems.
Many of these applications are found in pharmaceutical and biotechnical companies and in the food, dairy, medical, chemical, and electronic industries. Such applications require steam traps that meet rigid sanitation specifications, including the use of 316L stainless steel for its corrosion resistance and cleanability properties. Highly polished, the TC Series Clean Steam Thermostatic Traps are compact, lightweight and easy to install. They are designed for pressures to 120 psig (8 bar) and capacities to 3,775 lb/hr. (1,712 kg/hr).
