Armstrong ABV Series Balancing Valves

ABV Series Balancing Valves

Models ABV-S (Solder) and ABV-T (Threaded) 1/2"-2"

Unique flow-control plug. Armstrong incorporates a revolutionary flow-control plug in a Y-pattern globe valve. Flow is directed through multiple precision-contoured channels that distribute it uniformly and predictably within the valve. As a result, there is less wire draw, erosion of the seat, vibration and wear on the valve-stem packing. The plug is an ultra-high-strength engineered resin. It is fine-tolerance molded onto the steam to ensure concentricity and repeatability.

Ergonomically correct hand wheel. Armstrong’s unique hand wheel is ergonomically designed for maximum operator comfort and fine-tuning control. An adjustable range of 360˚ turns provides leverage against water pressure and extraordinary precision in hydronic circuit balancing.

Gradations on the micrometer-type position indicator are large and clear for easy viewing. The hand wheel and indicator can be located in any of six positions, making the indicator readable by simply repositioning the numbered scales. The hand wheel assembly is engineered for exceptional strength, corrosion resistance and dimensional stability.

And it remembers, too. The valve also has a positive memory feature. After being closed in order to service equipment, the valve can be reopened to the same exact balance set point. The memory may be set without special tools, and it is tamperproof because the hand wheel hides access to it.

Models ABV-G (Straight) and ABV-A (Angle) 2 1/2"-12"

Exclusive convertible design. Now you can change a 90˚ angle valve to a straight pattern on site. Likewise, you can switch straight patterns to angle valves—all with standard tools and with no additional parts. Valves from 2 1/2" to 12" are furnished with industry-standard grooved ends.

All of this is possible because Armstrong has split the innovative valve body on a 45˚ angle. Four body bolts secure the valve. Rotating half the body 180˚ produces a 90˚ change in flow direction. Therefore, all valves are field-convertible to straight or 90˚ angles, regardless of how they were furnished originally. Field conversion does not affect accuracy of the valve.
