"My times are in Your hand." Ps. 31:15

We have probably all heard the saying, "He is a self-made man."  Anyone who says they are a "self-made man" has pridefully removed God from His throne and taking His place.  In the end of his life, however, he will find that being a "self-made man" cannot control the number of days of their life.  That is unless they try to act like God and take their life into their own hands.

Our times are in the hands of God, our Creator.  God has fashioned us.  God made us.  We are Christ's workmanship and we have been created for good works, not bad.  God knows the thoughts He thinks toward us and they are thoughts of peace, not evil.  He has plans to give to us a future and a hope.  We choose to turn from God and try to fashion our own days.  In doing so, we head down the opposite path every time.

If my times are in the hand of God, then it makes sense to think He knows me better than anyone else.  Every thought.  Every action.  He hears every word and knows the intent of my heart.  He had formed my inward parts and covered me in my mothers womb.  Therefore, every hour of my life, every minute, and every second, has been written in God's book and have been fashioned for me.  God controls the number of my days.

How much time do you think you have left in God's book?  If you are a young person, you may think you have an unlimited number of days.  But, you do not.  If you are an older person, you may think your days are shorter and more difficult.  The truth is all of our days are numbered and we do not know what that number may be.

We have to be taught to number our days.  Why?  Because God said in doing so we may gain a heart of wisdom.

How will you count this day when the clock strikes the midnight hour?  Will you have reflected God to others?  Will you have reflected pride?  Anger?  Fear?  Selfishness?  Or, will you begin to praise God for every minute you have had with your family and friends to love?  Have you told them today how much you love them?

"So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."  Psalm 90:12
