Radiated HeatWhen condensate is moving slowly or is still, heat will move rapidly toward subfreezing air until the temperatures equalize and the condensate freezes. |

BlockageAs water freezes, it expands, obstructing more of the condensate flow path and accumulating more condensate. Eventually the piping or heat exchanger becomes blocked. In severe situations, pressure from the expanding, freezing condensate can burst the equipment housing it. |
