Vented Receiver and Pump

A vented receiver is a large container with a vent pipe that allows flash steam and air to escape to the atmosphere. The condensate is collected until it reaches a predetermined level in the tank. A switch senses the condensate level and turns on a pump to raise the condensate. The latent energy in the flash steam and some of the temperature of the water are lost in this process. Consequently, pumps can be quite expensive to run and maintain.
