M1371 - Piping Principles - .2 CEU
Course Syllabus

Steam traps come in a variety of shapes and sizes.  They employ a wide range of materials, function on several different principles of operation and may use different designs, even when the operating principles are the same.  All of these factors combine to give the trap the ability to reliably trap steam, drain condensate, and vent non-condensables throughout its expected service life.

Traps can only achieve these goals, however, if they are properly selected and installed.  This course is concerned with the process of correctly installing steam traps.  We will cover the general rules of trap installation and make specific recommendations to follow when certain challenging environments are encountered.

Installation and operation of steam equipment should only be performed by experienced personnel.  Selection or installation should always be accompanied by competent technical advice or assistance.  This course should never be used as a substitue for such technical advice or assistance.  We encourage you to contact Armstrong or your local Representative for further details.
